E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022
Effective April 1, 2023 under the Environment Protection Act, 1986. Mandates EPR for producers, manufacturers, refurbishers, and recyclers. Annual recycling targets calculated as a percentage of electronics sold.
Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016
Amended in 2024 with stricter EPR targets. Producers, Brand Owners, and Importers (PIBOs) must register on CPCB EPR portal and ensure minimum recycling percentages each year.
Hazardous & Other Wastes Rules, 2016
Governs handling, storage, treatment, and disposal of hazardous waste. Authorization in Form 2 from SPCB required. Form 3 logbooks and Form 4 annual returns mandatory.
C&D Waste Management Rules, 2016
Mandates segregation and processing of construction & demolition waste. Authorized facilities must comply with local SPCB norms for rubble processing and aggregate reuse.
State Pollution Control Board (SPCB) Requirements
Every waste management facility must obtain authorization from the respective SPCB. Here's what we manage for you.
Consent to Establish (CTE)
NOC from SPCB required before any construction or machinery installation. SPCB reviews proposed process, layout, pollution control systems, and waste handling plans.
Consent to Operate (CTO)
Issued after SPCB inspection verifying installed machinery matches approved capacity. Valid CTO under Air & Water Act mandatory for all recycling operations.
Hazardous Waste Authorization
Form 2 authorization from SPCB for handling hazardous waste. Granted within 120 days of satisfactory application. Valid for 5 years with renewal.
Annual Returns & Reporting
Form 4 annual returns due June 30 each year. Form 3 detailed logbooks maintained at facility. Quarterly self-declaration uploaded to CPCB portal.
CPCB Portal Registration
Mandatory registration on eprewaste.cpcb.gov.in for e-waste and CPCB plastic waste EPR portal. Material Flow Balance data uploaded periodically.
Geotagged Documentation
2025-2026 compliance framework mandates geotagged evidence for waste collection, transport, and disposal. QR/barcode requirements for plastic packaging from July 2025.
